We've all had nights that we just could not find the cozy bed and spent hours stirring occasionally until dawn. Why does this happen?
Well, your desire to "toss and turn," is hardly the result of you are not comfortable, it is the result of you do not feel relaxed. On a deeper feeling our mind wants to relax, but most of the time we interpret the message as "find a comfortable spot on the bed." True relaxation comes from within you, and must be triggered by your process internal reflection.
For example: You could be in a hammock on a hot summer day in Hawaii, but if you think if the stock market goes up or down, and you have 100 million dollars on the line and it really bothers you, it will not be what position you're in that hammock, you can not relax!
If you're lying in bed and you feel the urge to throw or run it until the end, you'll be surprised how quickly it fades! When you feel the urge to toss and turn, ask yourself: "How can I focus on something else right now to feel more relaxed?" As you sit there for about 15 seconds, you'll be surprised how urge to toss and turn simply fades, and you realize that what you really want to relax.
Understand that if you start tossing and turning, it will not end with a single start or turn, because of the momentum effect, you just keep stirring occasionally until dawn!
Sometimes the urge to move is really intense, or maybe you're really in a very painful on your bed. If you must move, do it this way:
1) Move, but move very slowly. Remember what it's like when you wake in the morning and you are very tired, do you move so quickly?
2) When you move very slowly, put a big smile on your face bright, and take a deep breath.
Another reason for tossing and turning keeps us awake is because we do it very quickly, and we do, the more it agitates us! So be very slow, and be sure to smile and breathe deeply, you'll feel the difference :-)
Tossing and turning is a phenomenon often lived for most of us. There are nights when we are not comfortable on the bed and keep tossing and turning all through the night. What bothers us?
Tossing and turning is not a feeling of unease, it is actually an offshoot of our sanity that is not relaxed. Independently of our minds that we want to relax, our bodies want to find a place more comfortable on the bed, following a misunderstanding. Trigger must come from within you and should be the result of your thought processes.
Lying in a hammock on a hot summer day, on a Hawaiian beach seems very relaxing. If you continue to think millions of euros invested in the stock market could take a beating if and when it crashes, the seat will not work miracles relaxing.
When you feel the urge to toss and turn in bed, give it time, wait. It will go faster than he came. Lie and thinking about focusing your mind also more relaxing than where it was and the urge to toss and turn will be out of your system in about 15 seconds. The best part of this exercise is that you realize that you need to relax and not try to find a comfortable spot on the bed.
If you start tossing and turning, it becomes an endless process for the night and not stop until the morning.
Sometimes when you feel the urge to run or ride is very high and you must travel, try the following:
1. Move very slowly, as if you're just one wakes up in the morning.
2. While moving trying to smile to yourself and take a deep breath.
Tossing and turning keeps us from sleeping, because we tend to do it quickly and impulsively, the sooner we do, the more excited we get. Try as the above, you will feel the difference and probably out of habit in no time.
